Teste de equipamento de extrusão de espuma EPE

A recent test run was conducted on an EPE foam extrusion line to verify equipment performance, product quality, and process stability prior to full-scale production. The objective was to confirm that all mechanical, electrical, and control systems functioned according to specification and that the final foam product met the required density, thickness, and appearance standards. Before startup, a thorough pre‑inspection was carried out. All major components, including the extruder barrel and screw, gear box, main motor, hopper, die head, cooling system, cutting unit, and winding system, were checked for proper installation and alignment. Electrical wiring, safety switches, emergency stops, and sensor connections were inspected. The heating zones were tested individually to ensure accurate temperature response and stable control.Once the equipment passed the initial checks, raw material feeding was prepared. Low‑density polyethylene resin and blowing agents were loaded into the feeding system in accordance with the specified formulation. The extruder heaters were then switched on and brought gradually up to the target temperatures for each zone, allowing sufficient time for thermal stabilization. When the temperature profile was stable, the main motor was started at low speed, and material feeding commenced. The screw speed and feed rate were adjusted slowly to ensure smooth plasticizing and to avoid pressure shocks. As the molten material moved through the extruder and mixed with the blowing agent, process parameters such as melt pressure, melt temperature, and amperage draw of the main motor were continuously monitored on the control panel.Foam emerged from the die after initial purging. Early extrudate was inspected for uniform expansion and surface defects. Fine adjustments were made to the temperature of the die and downstream zones to improve cell structure and dimensional stability. The cooling section, including air and water systems if equipped, was optimized to prevent deformation and collapse of the foam profile. The cutting and winding units were then engaged. Cutting speed was synchronized with the extrusion speed to maintain accurate product length and consistent roll diameter. The winding tension was adjusted to avoid compression of the foam while still providing firm, neat rolls.During the run, samples were taken at regular intervals to measure thickness, width, density, and recovery properties. Visual inspection focused on cell uniformity, surface smoothness, and color consistency. Test data showed that, after minor tuning of screw speed and temperature settings, the foam met the targeted specifications and exhibited stable quality. After several hours of continuous operation without alarms or abnormal vibration, the equipment was shut down following standard procedures. The results demonstrated reliable mechanical performance, effective process control, and the ability of the line to produce high‑quality EPE foam suitable for packaging and cushioning applications.
